only in Texas

Our neighbors invited us to enjoy the blue-bonnets on their property and a good ole' hot dog roast around the fire....we all had a great time, and they were nice enough to take some photos of us in front of the flowers, during the photo shoot, some unsuspecting guests began CHECKING us out.....

spring has sprung

Spring is my favorite season in Texas....the wild-flowers are just BEAUTIFUL.....

Happy Anniversary

Today, Jared and I have been married for 11 years........ and five cute kids later, here we are our backyard, between a bunch of cornfields....
exactly where we want to be.....I love you Jared....

these pictures were taken by Megan ,the photographer....she did a great job :)

We used to be a lot more exciting....we celebrated with a dinner at a fancy Chinese restaraunt, a little window shopping (which we never do b/c of our little ones) and topped it off with a movie to see Dear John....Heath was our little guest....it was wonderful :)

Baseball Season...2010

I am stoked to have some cute photo opprotunities with this baseball season....and my boys look sooo cute in their uniforms...in other words, this is my disclaimer/warning: tons of baseball pics in the near future....

Jacob's team, the Astros, won this game 10-1.....

4 going on 14

Chloe and I were in S.A. today for her dance class....on the way home, a couple of stops: gas and a DI drop off, while we were meandering through a trecherous car-packed parking lot....Chloe talks and talks and talks (like another daughter I love), any ways, the long and the short of this story is Chloe says BOOYAH (sp?)....It caught me by surprised and smiled....but then, come on mom, say BOOYAH....(just a note, 30 yr olds feel kind of weird saying booyah) so in a boring kind of way,BOOYAH...no mom, like this BOOYAH!!!....so with all of my motherly love for her, I manged a peppy BOOYAH!..... good job mom! it was a totally cute Chloe moment :)

To be continued....

For achievements days....the girls are making skirts.....Chloe had one, but I can't seem to find it anywhere....but, here is Megan working on her skirt....we have til May....I hope this project has a happy ending....

Favorite Pic

.....I just L O V E this picture I took...he just "discovered" his tongue...and now spends most of the day impersonating a lizard.....so cute!

At the table....

It's official...Heath now has a place at the table with the family, and his brothers and sisters are THRILLED to put it mildly.....we have had our first tast of applesuace, and again, my other children are THRILLED....after some brief training, my assistant Chloe demonstrated so we could get the first feeding documented.....

Travis the acrobat

Travis has many gifts....one of them includes defying the laws of gravity.....he has already mastered a full body front flip on the tramp and leaves his older brother and sister speechless with all the cool things he can do on the tramp....even off the tramp he can do a perfectly straight and still head stand and has his eye on WALKING on his his hands...I had a friend over a while back who commented on how agile my children were....and I said, " sometimes, I think we are training for the circus"

Spring Break Campout

This was a weekend trip, the entire week before, the forecast was supposed to be great...and just two days before it began to change (as it often does in Texas) all was well Fri night...the kids played games, roasted marshmellows, they even have a night-time put put set up which the kids LOVE...we were also right on the lake which was great....then at about 4am a lightning/sprinkle storm came in....and by 5 am a full fledge rain/lightning/thunder/wind storm- Texas style.....Chloe began to cry b/c of the thunder, then Megan reported water coming in....everyone was put on the air mattress....then we made one mad dash (dad made 4 or 5 dashes to the truck) to the truck, by the time we did evacuate, there had been so much rain we almost got stuck in the mud....we then abandoned the campsite! Dad and Jacob returned to the seen of the devestation only to discover the destruction of everyones tent's! SO, we're currently looking for a new tent!

Megan the Business Owner

Megan has always had an entrepenuer spirit about her....one of the things SHE did during spring break was open a mall in her room, of which included her SPA.....it was fun to visit her and get all beautiful....she gave dad a back massage.....A few days later she opened up a hosptial and
recruited Jacob, Travis and Chloe to be "patients"....it looked really fun....

Spa time

Having little girls is SOOOOO much fun.....this past spring break was pretty low key, but one of the things we (the girls and I that is ) did do a spa day where we had mud facials and Megan painted fingers and toes...

Barton family

I think Jared's family has given up on having the kind of family picture where EVERYONE is in the picture....even in this crowded picture, there are 10 people missing, not to mention it will once again be outdated in just a few weeks....thank goodness for photo-shop!!

Springing Forward STINKS

I understand the premise of Daylight Savings....honestly, I do....and in THEORY, yes, it seems like a practical attempt to solve.....but really, it seems to me to be a very one dimensional way to approach the problem.....our whole world(the Barton world that is) has been turned upside down b/c of the new time change....it just feels wrong to tell myself that it is 7am when everything else in my life from my sleepy body to the dark sky to the birds NOT chirping that it is really 6 am.......the same is true in the evening.....all of a sudden it is dinner time/ bedtime when really I should still have another hour to get everything started and work toward.....Jared is really the only one who has had to deal with it b/c of spring break..... (although Sunday was crazy, we were late only 10-15 mins past our normal late time, but I kept Heath in his jammies, so we would have been killer late)so, lucky for us that are on spring break, that we can ease into the world of operating off of one less hour and still function.....why we can't just ease into the more sunlight thing any way like the rest of the world.....in Russia(yes, I know, I'm comparing the US to a third world country) they had 5-6 hours of daylight in January to 24 hours of sunlight in June without the Daylight Savings thing and life seemed to function.....it just seems ridiculous to try and save a little bit at one end, only to mount up costs at several other ends....not to mention it messes up the balance of my life....springing forward stinks!!!

We are RICH....

Richly blessed that is.... I don't know what it is about having kids...but I always feel just a moment away from total mushiness....
Jacob is entertaining Heath with a cute little book....

Megan helping me give Heath a bath....having older children is WONDERFUL....there is never a shortage of willing hands when it comes to Heath- he's such a lucky guy ....

Travis has super powers- he can become invisible, and the only way to know for sure if he has been somewhere is to find his fingerprint which he always leaves....

here are my girlies- they too are cutie pies :)

Call me Heath Cutie-pie Barton

babies are just cute....I can not get enough cute pics of my little ones(esp when they're babies).... here are a few recent ones

better offer....

On Sunday....Megan asked me three or four times if I would have lunch with her @ school...and of course I said yes (b/c of illness in our family, I hadn't been to lunch w/ them for 3 weeks)....it is almost an all day experience....I showed up at 11:30 to have lunch with Travis....which is always fun-he was embarasses b/c of all the attention he received (Heath gets all sorts of attention from students and staff)....Then Jacob and Megan's class comes in....Jacob plays it cool and very low key (embarassed as well b/c of all the attention), Megan very excited, comes to me telling me where she wants to sit-etc., Jacob comes over w/his lunch....then, I wait and wait and wait for Megan to join us with her lunch...she never showed....So I get up and look around the crowded cafeteria...it's hard to find her....but over in the far corner of the cafetieria, I see Megan with all of her favorite friends.....apparrently the lunch duty person told the students that for today, the children could sit where they wanted and Miss Megan could not pass that opprotunity up.....I did make her promise to eat her ice cream with me.....I go back and enjoy the rest of my lunch with my dear Jacob, who only a few minutes after finishing his lunch asked if he could go play outside with his friends- I did make him give me a big fat hug before he ditched me.....
***it brought back memories watching the Kinder classes play heads up 7-up, b/c they had to stay inside due to muddy playground....I loved that game!!
