A father's promise.....
Now I am not sure how this all came to be......but recently (almost two weeks, I guess), Jared promised Jacob that he would quit, give up, kick the habit (or pleasure), abstain from all DR PEPPERs.....and well, a promise is a promise, and we are now almost 2 weeks and Dr Pepper (all caffinated sodas to be precise!)free....the funny thing is, is that I have had employees from the nearby gas station mention to me they havent seen Jared for a while....I hope there is no financial repucussions b/c of Jared's promise.....needless to say, Jacob is VERY proud of his dad for being true to his promise, and Jared smiles a little bigger knowing how proud Jacob is of him....

fun with friends....
trip to the dentist.....
This past week has been a week for the books as far as dentist appts go.....my children have inherited Jared's teeth (big teeth) and to make room for the adult teeth, the dentist needs to keep pulling them (had my children inherited MY teeth, they would have been missing a few adult teeth along with some ity bity ones that look out of place) either way my little ones would have been in for a million denstist appts to shape their sprakly smiles.....Megan and Travis both had teeth pulled....but Travis was the only one willing to show off the dental work for the camera.....actually, it's kinda gross looking into all those windows where teeth should be .....but when your six, it's kind of cool......

the things they say.....
One of the reasons I enjoy the 4, 5, and even 6 year old stage is b/c of the funny, sometimes random and totally out of the blue things they say....it seems that once they turn 7, they loose some of that little kid twinkle.....the other day I was telling Chloe we needed to hurry and go (I was trying to buckle up car seats the quick way as oppose to the long way when little girls don't want to get in their car seats) and she hopped right in her car seat and started snapping the buckles and said, " okay mom, lets rock n roll" ... another time she was telling me (as we were leaving the store parking lot "lets get this show on the road".......then my dear Travis, was telling me all these great things about dad (Jared and I had had a "disagreement" ) and as I began to disagree about something....he said, shrugging his shoulders, " well, I don't know mom, I am just in Kindergarten, I still don't know stuff!!"....those are the kind of things that make my heart smile inside (and out)......Megan always spoke king of dreamy, like, "when I'm a mom and have 99 daughters and only 1 son, I'm going to......" or if our ancestors came from China, would our eyes look like theirs??.... and then Jacob would often quote things from movies or a cartoon, even if we only watched it once or twice!! I would always feel like I've heard that before and then rack my brain trying to figure out where that quote came from.....often amazed b/c it was such a random quote from something I didn't realize we absorbing into our memory bank....the things they say .....

Happy Cinco de Mayo
Every year, their school puts together a special Cinco de Mayo/Fiesta program....The above pic is of Travis and some of his Kinder classmates, obviously enjoying himself :)
the program included special songs and dances.....
Megan is the cutie on the line (in the purple Mexican dress) preparing for the 3rd grade's special dance......Jacob was there but wanted absolutely nothing to do with mom and her camera.....
If I was totally on top of it, I would have pics of the parade around LaCoste that the children do like the big Fiesta parade in SanAntonio. the police come out and close off streets and the children have made mini-floats......Chloe was extremely disappointed that candy throwing was NOT include in this event.....

traditions.....
It is tradition for Megan and I to participate in the Race for the Cure, which we love and look forward to all year....I am not an athletic person but this is so much fun, I actually "consider" doing other runs/walks during the year....I have been doing this for several years now....My friend Carrie was the one who started all this fun, and even though she has moved away, Natalie and I think of her every time we participate ......thanx Carrie!!
